Scouts Honor

The man who signed both Mickey Mantle and Bobby Murcer to Yankees contract is entering the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame. Tom Greenwade, who passed away in 1986, will among this year's honorees.

Greenwade's biggest claim to fame was his find of Mickey Mantle, but he also wrote the scouting report that convinced Branch Rickey that Jackie Robinson was the right player to break MLB's color barrier.

Greenwade also signed Yankees stars Hank Bauer and Elston Howard.
