Trenton Thunder Tickets Sales up 17%

The Yankees are having trouble selling seats. Perhaps the impact can be felt directly at the Double-A Trenton Thunder ticket office.

I received a press release earlier today that ticket sales in Trenton are up 17%. It wouldn't be shocking if some fans decided they couldn't get a mucher cheaper, enjoyable evening watching top quality minor league baseball.

THUNDER TICKET SALES SPIKING AS SEASON DRAWS NEAR

Sales Up 17% Over Last Year
TRENTON, N.J. - Ticket sales in the last week for the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have increased dramatically across the board including everything from group tickets to ticket packages.
"It is obvious that people have started thinking about baseball and are looking forward to the beginning of the Thunder season on April 8," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "During several days last week we had people lined up at our ticket window in the middle of the day."
Last week, ticket sales increased by 17% over the same week last year.
Mini Ticket Package (5 to 9 games), Pic-A-Plan (choose your own 10 or more games), and Flex Pack (7 undated vouchers) sales are up over the same week last year. Pic-A-Plans topped the list at 26% over last year at this time.
The sale of group tickets (20 or more tickets) was up 22% over the same week last year.
Tickets reserved for Opening Day are at 79% of the capacity of the stadium. That number is expected to grow toward a sellout as April 8 gets closer.
The Yankee Club & Conference Center, the 100 person restaurant on the luxury suite level at Waterfront Park, has availability remaining for just 14 of 71 games during the 2009 season.
Online ticket sales are on pace to surpass last season's total online sales.
"The weather has started to feel like baseball season again and word is spreading about our Kids Eat Free promotion," added Smith. "People may have been more cautious about making long term purchases but now that the season is here, and we remain such an affordable entertainment destination, people are rushing to be a part of it."
The 2009 season will get underway on April 8 at 7:05 PM against the Binghamton Mets.
All children with a ticket, ages 12 and under, will receive a voucher upon entering the ballpark good for a free hot dog, bag of potato chips and a 12 oz. fountain soda at all 71 Thunder home games this season.
Fans are invited out to the ballpark on Tuesday, April 7 for the free Welcome North Fan Fest starting at 3:00 PM. The event will allow fans to watch the team's only practice in Trenton before the season and will feature an autograph session with the players. More information about the Welcome North Fan Fest can be found at www.trentonthunder.com.
Tickets are available now for all 2009 games, including the EL All-Star Game on July 15 by calling 609-394-3300 or online at trentonthunder.com
