Despite protestations from Assemblyman Richard Brodsky (D-Westchester), the Yankees will receive the $370.9 million in (primarily) tax-exempt bonds they sought to help finish the new Yankee Stadium. New York City’s Industrial Development Agency voted 11 to 1, with one absention, to give the go-ahead. NYC Comptroller William C. Thompson Jr. was the lone dissenting vote.
The Mets also received the $82.3 million they requested. There was no truth to the rumor that it was to be used for new commemorative patches.
