The Giants knew they weren't going to escape a second straight off-season without having to look for a new defensive coordinator. The Giants head 'D' man, Steve Spagnuolo, has been hired to be the next head coach of the St. Lous Rams.
Spagnuolo became a hot commodity last season when the Giants won Super Bowl XLII against the heavily favored, offensive fire power, New England Patriots. The Giants gave him a big increase to get him to stay for this past season, but they knew a departure was likely with the number of head coaching jobs that opened up at seasons end (and still continues).
In addition to the Rams, Spagnuolo met with the Jets, Broncos, Lions, and Browns. To replace Spagnuolo, the Giants will look to outsiders as well as current members of their staff- linebackers coach Bill Sheridan, defensive line coach Mike Waufle and secondary coach Peter Giunta.
