Oh yes, they call him the streak

The Yankees belted the Twins for the 2nd straight game last night 10-1. They got off to a good start, because the hottest hitter in baseball, Alex Rodriguez, smacked another long home run in
the 1st for a quick 2-0 lead. Andy Pettitte was marvelous in his 2nd start back where he belongs, and they Yankees offense piled up the runs on Twins starter Boof Bonser and the bullpen.

Johnny Damon had his 1st HR of the year, a long 3-run shot. Melky Cabrera broke out of his slump with 3 hits, and even recently recalled Kevin Thompson got into the act with a 2-run double.

No one is hitting better than A-Rod right now though (contract year...hmmm). His 6 home runs in the season's first 7 games is 2nd only to Mike Schmidt, who had 7 in 7. He also leads the majors with 15 RBI, and is hitting .357. He nearly had a 2nd home run when he flied out to the warning track in right.

Pettitte (1-0, 1. 64)threw 96 pitches in his 6 scoreless innings. He allowed 4 hits, a walk, and struck out 3. It was first victory in pinstripes since the 2003 World Series, and the 187th of his career.

Derek Jeter stole the 250th of his career. It puts one behind Willie Randolph for 2nd place all-time on the Yankees career list. Jeter also tied Joe DiMaggio for 7th all time in career
(6,821) at-bats as a Yankee.
