Minor League Weekend Recap - 5/12

A lack of hitting and plenty of rain effected this weekend's games. Scranton managed only 5 hits in Saturday's 5-1 loss to Indianapolis. The Yankees also made 3 errors that lead to all of the Indians runs being unearned. Sunday's game was washed out, but the two will go at it tonight with Ian Kennedy throwing for Scranton.

The Thunder wasted a good pitching effort from George Kontos on Saturday in a 3-1 loss to the Akron Aeros. Like their Triple-A brothers the Thunder managed to rap out only 5 hits and shoddy fielding lead to a couple of unearned runs. Sunday's game was rained out.

5 hits seemed to be a running theme over the weekend. The Tampa Yankees also only managed 5 hits on Saturday as they saw their 9-game winning streak come to an end in Brevard County's 5-1 win. The Yankees had Sunday off and go back at tonight against the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

Charleston dropped out of 1st place when they lost to the Asheville Tourists on Saturday, 8-0. The Tourists took 3 out of 4 took take a half-game lead over the RiverDogs. Dellin Betances (4-2) had a rough outing, allowing 5 earned runs in 4 innings, though his control was much better (only 1 walk issued). The RiverDogs had a much needed day off on Sunday.
