Abbott Heads up Inductee Class

Former Yankee and University of Michigan standout Jim Abbott was among those inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame yesterday in Lubbock, Texas. Abbott was player of the year as a member of the Wolverines in 1987 when he threw 31 consecutive scoreless innings and ended the year with 9 straight wins.

His 10 year career in the major leagues, included his 1993 no-hitter as a member of the Yankees. Abbott was also recently awarded an Honorary Degree Doctor of Laws from U. of Mich..

Another former Yankee, John Olerud (Washington St.) was also inducted, along with Fred Lynn (USC), Pete Incaviglia (Oklahoma St.), Phil Stephenson (Wichita St.), Derek Tatsuno (Hawaii), Jim Brock (Arizona St.), Chuck Brayton (Washington St.), Bibb Falk (Texas), Dick Siebert (Minn.), and Jerry Kindall (Arizona)
