Minor League Recap - 5/27

Jeff Karstens got hammered as the Scranton Yankees lost the first of a 4-game series to the Pawtucket Red Sox, 11-5. Karstens allowed 6 runs, 7 hits, and walked 3 in just 3.2 innings pitched. Outside of J.B. Cox, the bullpen didn't help. Billy Traber and Steven White combined to allow 5 runs. Chad Jennings has a report on manager Dave Miley threatening changes.

The Trenton Thunder won their 3rd straight from the Altoona Curve, 7-2. Ramiro Pena had 4 hits and Jose Tabata drove in 2 runs. Phil Coke threw a strong 7 innings, for his 4th win, before turning things over to Anthony Claggett, who closed things out for his 2nd save.

Mike Ashmore has a Q&A with Thunder catcher P.J. Pilitterre. Chase Wright has been placed on the DL with a sore shoulder and will be undergoing an MRI.

The Tampa Yankees had Monday off, but return to action tonight against local product Rick Porcello and the Lakeland Flying Tigers.

The holiday wasn't a good day for Dellin Bettances. The big right-hander gave up 7 earned runs in just 3.2 innings as the RiverDogs lost their 3rd straight to the Augusta Green Jackets, 9-8. Red hot Walt Ibarra drove in 3 runs for the Dogs and Jesus Montero was 3-5.
