It was a successful night for the Yankees organization as the big club and all 4 minor league teams picked up victories.
Dan Giese may get a shot at a spot start or work in the bullpen for the Yankees one of these days. That's because last night he threw a solid 7 innings in Scranton's 5-1 win over the Indianapolis Indians. Giese (4-2) allowed 1 run over 7 innings to lower his ERA to 1.01. Jason Lane helped him without a 3-run home run and Cody Ransom belted a 2-run shot.
Jason Jones improved to 7-0 in the Trenton Thunder's 5-2 win over the Reading Phillies. Colin Curtis belted a 2-run home run and Austin Jackson was 1-3 with a pair of walks.
Christian Garcia's 2nd start of the season has got to have the Yankees front office buzzing this morning. Garcia, recovering from shoulder and arm issues, limited the Daytona Cubs to 2 hits over 6 innnings and struck out 10 in the Yankees 5-0 win. Seth Fortenberry belted a 3-run HR and Mitch Hilligoss came up with a 4-hit day. Kevin Whelan threw a pair of scoreless innings as well.
Jesus Montero drove in 2 runs and Austin Krum added 3 hits and an RBI in the Charleston RiverDogs 5-2 win over the Greenville Drive. The Dogs won their 3rd straight over the Drive as Lance Pendleton allowed just 1 hit over 6 innings. Jonathan Ortiz picked up his 13th save.
