Minor League Recap - 5/6

Our main focus last night was wondering how Eric Hacker was doing for the Tampa Yankees. He entered the game with Jupiter with just a 2-1 record in 6 starts despite a 0.90 ERA. Tim Battle hit a walk-off 2-run home run in the bottom of the 9th to give Tampa a 3-2 win, but Hacker was forced to leave the game after only 2 innings.

We dropped an email to Chad Jennings of the Scranton Times Tribune, who covers the Yankees Triple-A Yankees and has a good feel for the players in the organization. He's waiting to hear back from Yankees pitching guru Nardi Contreras about Hacker and some other items, so we'll pass the info on to you as soon as we know.

White Sox prospect Lance Broadway and the Charlotte Knights bullpen shutdown Scranton last night, 5-0. Jason Lane and Matt Carson had 2 hits each for the Yankees. Carson is 6-10 in his first two games at Triple-A.

George Kontos struck out 11 in 5 innings of work in the Trenton Thunder's 9-5 win over the Erie SeaWolves. The 3-game suspension seems to have done Jose Tabata good. He was 3-4 last night and 7-12 in his last 3 games. Austin Jackson also had 3 hits, and Cody Ehlers and Kevin Russo each homered.

Dellin Betances (4-1) struggled with his control, walking 7 in 5.2 innings, but still picked up the victory in Charleston's 5-4 win over the Hickory Crawdads. Austin Krum cracked a 3-run home run, his first of the season for the River Dogs.
