Minor League Recap - 6/5

Dan McCutchen dropped to 0-3 after allowing 3 earned runs in Scranton's 5-4 loss to the Norfolk Tides last night. McCutchen allowed 10 hits, walked 1 and struck out 5. Scranton beat writer Chad Jennings spoke with a visiting scout who feels McCutchen would be an effective major league reliever. Jason Lane hit his 12th home run of the season last night, a 2-run shot. It's time for Lane to get a shot in place of Shelley Duncan with the big club.

Trenton won a well pitched game, 3-1 in 12 innings over the Connecticut Defenders. George Kontos allowed 3 hits over 7 innings and struck out 7. He seems to finally be finding his way. Anthony Claggett followed him with 2 scoreless innings and Mark Melancon went the final 3 for the win. The three Thunder pitchers allowed just 6 hits in the game. Edwar Gonzalez's sac fly snapped the 1-1 tie and was his 2nd RBI of the night.

The Thunder play an oddly early 10:35 a.m. game today.

The Tampa Yankees will have to wait another day to try to end their 5-game losing streak. Their game with the Clearwater Threshers was rained out.

The Charleston River Dogs had their 7-game winning streak snapped by the Rome Braves, 5-2. All-Star selection Jason Stephens had a rough night, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings.
