Wow, we were stunned this morning when we started up the computer (no there wasn't an electrical short). First thing we saw when we started up Firefox was that George Carlin had died. He had a history of heart problems and was hospitalized yesterday with chest pains and passed away later in the evening. He was just 71 years old.
Carlin was one of the brightest, funniest, most observant comedians of all time. Some people were turned off by his radical views and his off-color language, but the man was a comic genius. His best known routine of course was the "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television", but he had so many other great routines and characters. His comparison of baseball and football is a classic as were his portrayals of the "Hippie Dippie Weatherman" and the "sports guy" (here are the out of town scores, 3-2, 4-0, and 5-1).
Carlin also had memorable movie performances in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure", "Dogma", and "Outrageous Fortune". Kids know him as the narrator from TV's "Thomas the Tank Engine" series.
We always found it amusing to receive an email that was purportedly Carlin's views on America. They were always slanted to the right and clearly not anything that Carlin would ever espouse to.
Rest in Peace funny man and thanks for the laughs.
