Tampa debut a successful one, picking up the victory in the 'A' ball
Yankees 3-2 win over the
Lakeland Flying Tigers.
Stephens allowed 2 unearned runs over 5 innings, striking out 4 in his first start since his promotion from
Charleston.
Luis Nunez played a part in two of
Tampa's runs with an RBI and a run scored.

Toledo Mud hens doubled up
Scranton 8-4 as
Dan McCutchen had another rough outing at the Triple-A level. He allowed 6 runs, 5 of them earned, in 5 innings pitched as his record dropped to 1-5. The loss over shadowed a big game from
Juan Miranda, who went 5-5 with a pair of RBI.

Kevin Whelan made his first appearance since his promotion from
Tampa, striking out 2 and walking 1 in 1 inning of work. Recently signed
Oneli Perez also made his first appearance, striking out 1 in a 1-2-3 inning.
Edwar Gonzalez drove in
Austin Jackson, who had 2 hits, for the
Thunder's lone run.

Columbus Catfish 11-8, despite home runs by
Brad Suttle,
Austin Romine, and
Brandon Laird. The
RiverDogs lead 7-5 when the
Catfish scored 6 times in the 8th inning. The only bright spot for
Charleston pitching was
Craig Heyer, who threw 3 shuout innings, lowing his ERA to 1.05 in 21 appearances.

The
Gulf Coast Yankees have also gotten under way and won a doubleheader yesterday to start the season. The rookie
Yankees over came a 2-0 deficit, tying it in the 6th and then winning it in the 7th on
Andres Dionici's RBI single.
Dellin Betances, rehabbing a shoulder injury, threw 2 scoreless innings to start the game.
Manuel Banuelos picked up the victory, while Mike Obradovich notched the save.

Yankees took the nightcap in another one run ball game, 2-1.
Arodys Vizcaino threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball and New Jersey's own (Carlstadt, FDU-Madison) Ryan Flannery went the final 2 innings for the save. The Yankees managed only 2 hits, but one of them was an RBI single by Spencer Lucian.
