Minor League Recap - 6/10

Dan McCutchen continues to struggle at Triple-A. He allowed 4 runs in 6.1 innings yesterday in a 5-0 loss to the Syracuse Chiefs. Scranton did nothing against former big leaguer John Parish, who allowed 3 hits over 8 innings, to improve to 9-0. Alberto Gonzalez had 2 of the 3 Yankees hits.

Scranton did win the completion of Sunday's suspended game, 3-2. Bernie Castro lead off the bottom of the 9th with a single, moved to 2nd on Brett Gardner's sacrifice bunt, to 3rd on a passed ball, and scored on Gonzalez's single. Alan Horne made his return from the DL with a solid (1 ER 3 H 2 BB 7 K) 4 inning start.

The Trenton Thunder had the day off, but here's a Q&A Mike Ashmore did with Mark Melancon.


Tampa lost a heart breaker, 4-3 in 15 innings to the St. Lucie Mets. Kevin Smith had tied the game up for the Yankees with a solo home run in the 9th inning. But after 6 scoreless innings from the Tampa pen, the Mets got to Josh Schmidt in the 15th. Edwin Nunez also homered for the Yankees.

Charleston blew a 7-4 lead and a 9th error lead to an 8-7 loss to the Rome Braves. It was also the second straight rough start for Jason Stephens, who allowed 4 runs and 11 hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Austin Krum drove in 4 runs for the RiverDogs, while Brandon Laird added a pair of ribbies.
