Shelley Duncan Gets the Call.

From Peter Abraham of the Journal News, who by the way, runs a great Blog. No word on who will be sent down.

"The 27-year-old Duncan was hitting .295 with 25 homers and 79 RBI for Scranton. I’ve been told by scouts that he is a DH type with below major-league skills at first base. He also has played some left field.

He’s an interesting prospect in that the Yankees selected him in the second round in 2001 but never invited him to spring training. He spent four years in A ball. A red flag is that he has struck out 661 times in 2,650 at-bats. But he has hit 128 home runs.

Some right-handed power off the bench or as the DH could help the Yankees. Duncan has hit right-handers fairly well this season (.305/.394/.578).

With Johnny Damon struggling and Jason Giambi at least two weeks away, Duncan could help out as a DH."

Update 4:00 - Kevin Thompson was optioned to Scranton. Doug Mientkiewicz was moved to the 60 day DL to make room on the 40 man roster for Duncan.
