Minor League Recap - 6/6

While the Yankees were stock piling arms in the first day of the amateur baseball draft, the current Yankees farm hands were trying to make a name for themselves. One of them was Jeff Marquez, who dominated the Norfolk Tides for 7 innings in the Scranton Yankees 5-2 win. Ben Broussard helped him out with his first home run Eric Duncan had 2 hits, an RBI, an 2 runs scored.

The Trenton Thunder took the rubber game of their 3-game series with the Connecticut Defenders, 9-6. After tying the game up in the 8th, the Thunder rolled in the 9th with 3 runs, 2 of them coming home on Edwar Gonzalez's double. Jose Tabata brought home the final run with a sac fly. Austin Jackson also had 2 RBI in the game.

It was a tough start for Al Aceves, who has been so impressive thus far for Tampa and Trenton. This time out though he was knocked around for 5 runs in 6 innings. Bo Hall pitched 2.2 shutout innings to get the win.

Tampa dropped a 6-2 game to the Palm Beach Cardinals in the first of a 4-game series. Ivan Nova had his second consecutive bad start, allowing 6 runs in 5 innings. Phil Bartleski was a bright spot in relief, striking out 6 in 3 scoreless innings of relief. Jim Cooper had a 2 hits and drove in both Yankees runs.

The Charleston RiverDogs won for the 8th time in 9 games, pounding the Rome Braves 13-2. Carmen Angelini drove in 3 runs, and Justin Snyder, Brad Suttle, and Austin Krum added 2 RBI each. Wil De La Rosa picked up the win with 4 shutout innings in relief.
