Shelley Duncan homered, singled, and drove in 3 to lead the Scranton Yankees over the Buffalo Bisons 3-1. Duncan has belted 6 home runs in 55 at-bats. Dan Giese pitched 6 innings of 3-hit shutout ball, striking out 9, to get the win.
The Trenton Thunder opened a series with the New Britain Rock Cats with a 2-1 win. Matt Carson put the Thunder ahead with a 2-run home run in the 7th inning. George Kontos gave up a run on 4 hits over 6 innings to earn the win. Austin Jackson (0-4) and Jose Tabata (0-3) both took the collar.
Tampa's red hot starter Eric Hacker (2-1, 0.82) was at it again last night, limiting the Ft. Myers Miracle to 4 hits and 2 unearned runs in 7 innings. James Cooper had 2 hits, an RBI, and stole home in the Yankees 4-2 win.
Charleston made a clean sweep of the Yankees farm teams with a 5-3 win over the Columbus Catfish. Brandon Laird and Wady Rufino each smacked 2-run home runs for the River Dogs, who are now 18-3. Dellin Betances didn't figure in the decision, but pitched well- 6 IP 2 H 1 ER 3 BB 7 K. Jesus Montero was 2-4 to raise his average to .374.
