Minor League Recap - 4/24

Brett Gardner doesn't hit many home runs, but his 2nd of the season provided a walk-off winner for Scranton last night. The Yankees blew a 1-run lead in the 8th, but Gardner, who had 1 home run in 381 at-bats last season, doubled that total already to be the hero in the 6-5 win over the Buffalo Bisons. Edwar Ramirez picked up the win and has not allowed a run in 9 innings this season (8 games).

The Charleston River Dogs just keep rolling again. A 4-0, 4-hit shutout of the Savannah Sand Gnats improved to the River Dogs to 17-3 (.850). Zach McAllister limited the Gnats to 2 hits over 6 innings to improve his record to 2-1, 1.13. Carmen Angelini drove in 2 runs for the Dogs who had just 5 hits themselves.

The Trenton Thunder took 2 of 3 from the Binghamton Mets by taking an 8-5 decision last night. Colin Curtis (.301) went 4-5 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Cody Ehlers added his 4th home run of the season. Closer Dave Robertson struck out 4 of the 5 hitters he faced for his 2nd save of the season. He's posted a 0.64 ERA in 7 games and has held opponents to a .159 average. Austin Jackson (.294) was 1-5, while Jose Tabata went 1-3 with an RBI.

The Ft. Myers Miracle took advantage of a bad outing by Tampa starter Ivan Nova to defeat the Yankees 6-1. Tampa only managed 3 hits in the game. J.B. Cox pitched one scoreless inning in relief and has been unscored upon in his last 4 appearances.
