Life Brings Perspective

Tragedy always brings perspective to life, especially concerning the importance, or lack thereof, of sports. While reading some more on Derek Jeter's statement in the Journal News, we came across this sad item.

Team mourns intern: Matthew Wasser, a 22-year-old intern in the team's media-relations department, was killed Sunday morning when a cab he was riding in was struck by a driver changed with operating under the influence.

Wasser was in Boston working for Major League Baseball at the Indians-Red Sox series. The Bernardsville, N.J., native had started with the Yankees last spring.

"A loss of this magnitude is impossible to put into words," media-relations director Jason Zillo said. "The Yankees family reaches out to the Wasser family during this tremendous time of grief, as we keep his loved ones and friends close to our heart."

Makes you not really too concerned who the next manager is. We send our thoughts and prayers out to Matthew Wasser's family. Rest in Peace.
