Early Bird Catches the Posada

Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees are moving quickly in effort to sign Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada to new deals. Word is that talks with Posada has progressed much more than those with the Yankees Hall of Fame closer.

Those in the know see both players being offered 3 year, $40 million deals. While that may seem high, considering their ages, it is not really when you consider what else is on the market and competitive deals. Ivan Rodriguez recently had a $13 million option picked up by the Detroit Tigers. And replacing a closer is never an easy task.
