Hank Steinbrenner reiterated Brian Cashman's feelings today concerning the Yankees big 3 pitching prospects - Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, and Ian Kennedy. "It's pretty obvious which players we're not going to trade," Steinbrenner said. "(Joba) Chamberlain, (Phil) Hughes and even (Ian) Kennedy. Not for a position player."
It's hard to imagine the Yankees landing a Miguel Cabrera without using one of them. Then again, maybe that's a good thing.
Mariano Rivera has been offered a 3-year, $39 million deal, but has yet to respond to it. SI's Jon Heyman speculates that perhaps this is Mariano's version of payback for not being offered a deal in the spring. Source
