The Los Angeles Angels have sent shortstop Orlando Cabrera to the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Jon Garland.
The White Sox recently re-signed their current shortstop Juan Uribe to a new 1 year deal. We can't imagine the White Sox are going to try to shift Uribe to 2nd Base, so maybe this is the precursor to another deal.
You can always use pitching, but you wonder if the Angels are planning on dealing Garland or one of their other pitchers, Jered Weaver perhaps, in attempt to get Miguel Cabrera.
Garland stands to make $12 million dollars in 2008 and will become a free agent afterwards.
