Jeter To Be Offered 3 Years

A new deal and Minka Kelly? What's not to smile about?

According to ESPN New York's Wally Matthews, the Yankees are going to offer free agent/El Capitan Derek Jeter a three year deal that will fall some where in the $45 million - $60 million range.

Several sources told Matthews that the Yankees are willing to overpay Jeter, coming off arguably the worst offensive season of his career.
"The Yankees are going to overpay him," said a source with intimate knowledge of the discussions between the team and Casey Close, Jeter's agent. "The question is, how much are they going to overpay him?"
It's thought that the Yankees would like to tie up Jeter and Mariano Rivera before turning their full attention to free agent Cliff Lee.
