Red Sox Claim Guzman

In a continuing attempt to improve their shortstop position, the Boston Globe has reported that the Boston Red Sox have claimed Christian Guzman off waivers from the Washington Nationals.

The Sox have used an array of infielders at the position including Nick Green, Julio Lugo, Jed Lowrie, and Chris Woodward. But with Lowrie back on the DL after re-injuring his surgically repaired wrist, the Sox wanted a better and more permanent solution.

Guzman has one year remaining on 2-yr, $16 million deal.
