RIP Dom DiMaggio

When you think of the name DiMaggio, Joe is the first thing that comes to mind. But that's not necessarily the case in Boston, where Dominic DiMaggio enjoyed a stellar 11 year career. Dom DiMaggio passed away today at age 92 due to complications from pneumonia.

Despite playing in the shadow of his older brother and his teammate Ted Williams, the younger DiMaggio compiled a .298 career batting average and made 7 All-Star appearances playing the same position as Joe D.

After returning from a 3-year stint in the service, Dom made his only World Series appearance in 1946. He hit .259 with 3 RBI as the Cardinals won the championship. Dom retired after playing three games in 1953 and went on to a successful business career.
