Player's Union Balks at A-Rod

The player's union reacted quickly to word that Alex Rodriguez was negotiating without Scott Boras.
"That clearly is a violation of the Basic Agreement," Michael Weiner, the general counsel of the players' union.
This isn't the first time the player's union got involved in an A-Rod negotiation. When Boston and Texas were trying to work a trade for A-Rod prior to the '04 season, the union shot down A-Rod's attempt to restructure his contract.
