The Daily Yankeeland

While the Yankees front office isn't panicking about Andy Pettitte's decision not to decide, they clearly have to be making contingency plans in case the veteran lefty does not come back. Right now though the Yankees are concentrating on Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, 3rd Base, and the bullpen.

Ken Rosenthal expects the Mets to make a huge offer, possibly a 5 year deal, to try to sway Posada to come across town. The Yankees are hoping to sign Posada to something like a 3 year, 42 mill deal, though a 4th year could be added. Source

It appears even closer than last night that the Yankees will have to stare at the ugly mug of Curt Schilling for at least 1 more year. The Mouth that Roared is reportedly set to get an 8 mill deal, with another 5 mill possible in incentives.

Scratch Garret Atkins from the list of possible A-Rod replacements. The Rockies 3rd Baseman was thought to be expendable because of prospect Ian Stewart. But Stewart has been working out at 2nd Base in the fall instructional league, and could replace free agent Kaz Matsui. Source

It's looking more and more like Don Mattingly will be Joe Torre's hitting coach in LA. Since it is not a good step for becoming a manager, we wonder if the Dodgers insisted he not be the bench coach.
