Montero Hopes to be the Heir Apparent

Jesus Montero already had teams clamoring for him as a teenager. The Yankees won that bidding war and soon the big teenager was making an impression in the Yankees organization with his bat. But even as a teenager, there weren't too many people who thought he would remain a catcher.

Today at 6'4", 225 lbs, Montero is still not the prototypically built catcher, but he's looking to change that. Marc Carig of the Star Ledger has a feature on Montero, who hopes to be the heir apparent to Jorge Posada.
"Without question, he is significantly improved this year as opposed to last year," (Brian) Cashman said. "To the point that we don't really doubt he's going to be a catcher in the big leagues."
