Breaking News: Giants Great Brad Van Pelt Dead of Apparent Heart Attack

We just received some very sad news- former NY Giants football great, Brad Van Pelt, has passed away of an apparent heart attack at age 57. Van Pelt was one of our favorites in the '70s and '80s, combining with fellow linebackers Harry Carson, a young LT, and Brian Kelley to form the "Crunch Bunch".

Those Giants teams were pretty bad for the most part, but Van Pelt was a big part of the rebuilding that began with Ray Perkins and continued with Bill Parcells.

He was a stand out at Michigan State, playing for legendary coach Duffy Daugherty, before the Giants took him in the 1973 draft. He played in 5 Pro Bowls through 1983, when he left the Giants to play for the LA Raiders. After 2 seasons out west, Van Pelt played his final season for the Cleveland Browns in 1986.

Van Pelt is a member of the Michigan St. and college football Hall of Fames. We send our sympathies to his family and friends.
