For now, the the
Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association is standing by
Roger Clemens. Shortly after the release of the
Mitchell Report, the association began to re-consider having Clemens as the guest speaker at their annual convention. But after much deliberation, Clemens will indeed be speaking before a group of about 1,000 coaches, January 10-12.
“We took a wait-and-see approach,” Jim Long, the group’s president, said in a telephone interview. “He adamantly wants to come, and we really don’t have any reason not to have him.”
Needless to say, Clemens will not be discussing or addressing the subject of steroid use.
