A-Rod and the Yankees Slammin' the Competition
Alex Rodriguez's grand slam last night was his third this season. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Hall of Fame member Jimmie Foxx is the only other player to have more than two slams in a season in four different years.
A-Rod also had multiple slams in 1996, 1999, and 2007.
The Yankees are the first team with nine grand slams prior to the All-Star break. In getting number nine last night, the Yankees eclipsed the 2000 A's, 2005 Red Sox, and 2006 Indians.
Yankees slam totals this season:
A-Rod 3
Jorge Posada 2
Brett Gardner 1
Curtis Granderson 1
Mark Teixeira 1
Robinson Cano 1
