When Robinson Cano gets a hit with runners in scoring position, you know things are going well. Cano’s 2-run single that snapped his 0-22 skid with RISP was part of the Yankees 10-2 onslaught against the Minnesota Twins. It was more than enough support for CC Sabathia, who allowed a run on 3 hits in 7 innings to improve to 8-5.
The Bombers jumped right on Twins’ starter and loser Scott Baker (6-7) in the 1st inning and never looked back. Derek Jeter and Mark Teixeira reached on singles and Hideki Matsui brought home the game’s first run with a sacrifice fly. Francisco Cervelli, who knocked in a pair of runs in the game, added a sac fly of his own in the 2nd and Teixeira delivered an RBI single for a 2-0 lead. It was one of four hits on the night for the Yankees first baseman....
