Hitting the ice for a minute to wish a happy retirement to future NHL Hall of Fame member and class guy, Joe Sakic. The 20-yr veteran of the Quebec Nordique/Colorado Avalanche amassed 625 goals, 1016 assists, 1,641 points, two Stanley Cups, and an Olympic gold medal.
Our Rangers tried to sign Sakic prior to the 1997-98 season and signed him to a $21 million offer sheet. The Avalanche knew they couldn't let their captain get away and matched the offer.
Sakic won one league MVP award and was a 13-time All-Star.
