Bad news from NY Times' Yankees beat writer Tyler Kepner on his Twitter account - Chien-Ming Wang felt tenderness in shoulder today while playing catch. It's the first time Wang has thrown since being placed on the DL July 5 with shoulder soreness.
Here's the Good News: Wang was told by doctors that the pain was normal for a pitcher rehabbing a strained shoulder, so the righthander remained cautiously optimistic about returning to the mound in 2009. "It's not too bad," Wang said through an interpreter. "If everything goes fine, I should be able to pitch this season."
