Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, and Mariano Rivera are headed to St. Louis a week from Monday for the 2009 All-Star game festivities. Jeter, the AL's leading vote-getter, and Teixeira will both be in the starting up lineup on Tuesday, July 15. Rivera was added to the AL's pitching staff by manager Joe Maddon and MLB.
Jeter and Rivera will be both be making their 10th All-Star apperance, while Teixeira is making just his second appearance. Jeter finished with 4,851,889 votes, the first time he has been the game's "leading man". Teixeira trailed Boston's Kevin Youkilis by 40,000 votes as of this past Tuesday, but received a huge late surge and finished nearly 240,000 votes in front.
