56 Games or Marilyn Monroe?

Hard to tell which is the greatest accomplishment. Either way, Joe D started his trek towards both on this date in 1936. The Yankee Clipper made him major league debut, going 3-6 against the St. Louis Browns. He wore #9.

15 years later another rookie, Gil McDougald had himself a day to remember. McDougald, the 1951 AL ROY, drove in 6 runs in one inning as the Yankees stomped the same St. Louis Browns 17-3.
