The last time Roger Clemens put on a Yankees uniform it was Game 4 of the 2003 World Series. Clemens didn't get a decision in the game that was the turning point of the series. But as he tipped his cap to an appreciative Marlin's crowd, one had to wonder if he was really retiring.
This afternoon Clemens makes his return to the Yankees and Yankee Stadium. The crowd (and Suzyn Waldman) will go crazy as he takes the mound at approximately 1:05 pm. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
Clemens will not be on a pitch count since he's already tossed 100 pitches in a minor league game. The biggest question will be if his fatigued groin stands the test. He's like to go 5-6 innings his first time out.
Oh, and he'll get over 153 grand for today's game. Nice work if you can get it.
