Adios Alfredo
Alfredo Aceves won't be back in a Yankees uniform in 2011. The Yankees non-tendered the pitcher, they had plucked from the Mexican League in 2008, in December after he broke his clavicle riding a bicycle. A free agent, he has signed a one year deal with the Boston Red Sox.
Aceves missed almost of the 2010 season with a bad back, but was a key to the Yankees 2009 World Series title when he went 10-1, 3.54 in 43 appearances, all but one of which was in relief. The Yankees first got a glimpse of what Aceves could do during the 2008 season when they he threw 30 innings late in the season. Aceves finished 14-1, 3.21 in 59 career appearances for the Bronx Bombers.
The Red Sox reportedly have guaranteed the 28-yr old Aceves $650K for 2011 plus the possibility of another $100K in incentives.
