A Hughes Step Forward

Very good job for Phil Hughes tonight, who was in need of a good start after 2 rough outings. He struck out Ryan Howard and Patt Burrell in the 1st inning to strand 2 runners, then breezed through the 2nd. After alllowing a run in the 3rd, Pedro Feliz took Hughes deep wiht a man aboard.

Final line for the night- 5 IP 3 H 3 ER 2 BB 6 K

The Yankees certainly have their hitting shoes on, scoring 13 runs on 19 hits. Robinson Cano (HR, 5 RBI), Shelley Duncan, and Derek Jeter have 3 hits apiece. Jason Giambi and Melky Cabrera have each homered as well.

Yankees 13-4 after 6
