The Daily Yankeeland

2000 World Series hero Jose Vizcaino has been hired as a special assistant for the LA Dodgers. The 18-year MLB veteran will work on special projects in baseball operations, and serve as an instructor during spring training. His duties will also include instruction at the Dodgers' baseball academy in the Dominican Republic.

Virginia Tech University has begun to prepare for the Yankees visit on March 18th. In addition to re-aligning the foul poles, temporary seating is being installed to accommodate a large crowd. Currently the school's English Field holds just 1,000 seats. A crowd of about 5,000 people are expected to attend the game.

The school's baseball team will also be making an adjustment- they'll be using wooden bats rather than the customary aluminum bats.

Tickets will not be available to the general public, but instead will be disseminated through a lottery like the one used for Va Tech's basketball and football tickets.

The Yankees committed to the exhibition game and donated $1 million to Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund after the tragic campus shooting this past April 16.
