If You Build it, They Will Sell it

Field of Dreams is one of the best baseball/life movies of all time. Who didn't choke up when Ray Kinsella's (Kevin Costner) Dad, John, showed up to play catch with him at the end of the movie?

For years, the actual corn field in Iowa was used as a ball field. Primarily for re-enactments of the movie, with players interacting with tourists. I was in Iowa in '94 and didn't have a chance to stop there. And now I won't be able to.

According to the Des Moines Register, the land's owner, Rita Ameskamp, has sold the property.

Don and Becky Lansing, owners of "The Field of Dreams Movie Site" in Dyersville, on Friday acquired the remaining portion of the iconic site from Rita Ameskamp.

But according to all those involved, the sale has nothing to do with the end of the games. Apparently it was just time to move on. End of an era. Source: SPORTSbyBROOKS
