How Not to Intentionally Walk a Batter

The Eastern League saw a rarity occur Tuesday night in a 7-inning make up game between the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) and the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins).  With the game tied at five apiece, the Rock Cats put runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs.

With a base open, Fisher Cats manager Gary Allenson decided to intentionally walk Reynaldo Rodriguez to set up a force at any base.  One little problem with that scenario - pitcher Alan Farina threw a ball that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar could not have caught if he were catching. Breaking News: Twins-Rays swing 6 Player Deal

The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting that the Rays and Twins have reached agreement on a 6 player deal that would send outfielder Delmon Young to Minny and pitcher Matt Garza to Tampa.

Also going to Tampa would be pitcher Juan Rincon and shortstop Jason Barrett. Shortstop Brendan Harris and outfielder Jason Pridie will be headed to Minnesota.
