Ronan the Barbarian

TOH to @fletch788 on Twitter for pointing this article out from Big League Stew.

It looks like Ronan Tynan won't be singing "God Bless America" at Yankee Stadium any time soon. For that matter, he may not be singing it anywhere, except for perhaps Fox News or a John Birch Society gathering.

Seems Ronan made anti-semitic remark to a realtor that was showing an apartment in Ronan's building.

"The trouble started when Tynan, 49, bumped into a real estate agent showing an apartment in his East Side apartment building to a doctor from NYU Medical Center.

"The agent told Tynan, 'Don't worry, they are not Red Sox fans,' according to apartment-hunter Gabrielle Gold-von Simson.

"'I don't care about that, as long as they are not Jewish,' was Tynan's reply.

Oh Ronan...Ronan...Ronan...ya big jug earred dumb ass. 2009, the year of the not-so-heartfelt apology.

The Daily Yankeeland - 8/28

The Yankees will try to salvage the finale of the three game series this afternoon when Mike Mussina faces Jon Lester. Yankees aren't going anywhere but downward, but they owe it to Mussina to show up today.

Hank says things will change!

Ken Davidoff thinks Joe Girardi needs to loosen up.

Pavano is on waivers and available. Yankees couldn't possibly be that lucky to get someone worthwhile back for him.

Like the rest of us, Joel Sherman says it's time to look towards '09.

Too little, too late for A-Rod.

Girardi defends the middle of the lineup.

Viedo of the fan ejected for trying to blow off God Bless America.

Has God Bless America Gone Overboard?

A number of us Yankees fans have had a debate over whether or not "God Bless America" should continue being sung during the seventh inning stretch. It was originally started in response to the events of 9/11 and now is said to be done as a tribute to the troops overseas.

For many of us it is beginning to feel disingenuous. No other teams have continued this new tradition, even the Mets stopped. More disturbing is the Gestapo like feel that is apparently taking hold when the song is being played.

According to "The Gothamist", a fan was ejected from last night's game when he attempted to use the rest room during the playing of the song. A police officer stopped him from leaving the seating area. When said fan stated that he had to urgently use the bathroom and did not care about the song, the officer reportedly grabbed him in a forceful manner and ejected him from the ball park.

Other fans who attend games regularly have had or seen similar incidences.
"This tip doesn't surprise me at all. Everyone has to stand, just like in school, and you'll get berated and harassed if you don't."
The ejected fan has contacted the Yankees as well as the ACLU. Representatives of "The Gothamist" were still attempting to get a response from the Yankees.
