Dellin Betances made his 2008 debut a very successful one tonight for the Single-A Charleston River Dogs. The 6'8" right-hander, who made just 6 appearances last year due to elbow inflammation, struck out 8 in 5 innings of work. The Dogs won 10-4 over Rome as Bettances allowed 2 runs on 3 hits.
Austin Krum, who struggled at Staten Island last year, had a pair of hits and 4 RBI.
