Jim Leyritz has to be thanking God, his lucky stars, or whatever else he may believe in this evening.
The former Yankees catcher was fined $500 and put on one year's probation for his misdimeanor DUI conviction from 2007. Leyritz was acquitted of DUI manslaughter last month after a drunken crash killed Freida Ann Veitch. Prosecutors were unable to convince the jury that Leyritz ran a red light.
Leyritz settled a civil suit with the victim's family last May.
