Jeter And Pinstripes-Perfect Together
The speculation is over, if there really was any, Derek Jeter will be a Yankee for at least the next three years. The two sides finalized a deal that will guarantee Jeter $48M and has a player option worth $8M, with a $3M “gift” if the option isn’t taken. So in actuality Jeter is guaranteed $51M whether he plays the fourth year or not. The contract also contains $9M in incentives based on MVP voting, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, and ALCS and World Series MVP awards. All in all Jeter could earn $65M over the life of the contract if he meets all the necessary requirements.

No way a player that old should lead the league in plate appearances. Girardi was desperate for offense due to dodgy pitching, to the detriment of Jeter. I thought Jeter was excellent at the end, and I don' t see a range reduction -- in crucial situations.
