New Year in the New Year

Andy Pettitte has set a tentative deadline of January 1st to decide whether or not he wants to return next season.

"I'm realistic, and I realize that, come the first of the year, I won't be able to prepare myself the way I need to prepare myself for the season," Pettitte told Houston television station KRIV. " . . . I understand the work I need to do to get ready. I won't play if it means trying to short-cut getting ready for the season."
