Another Rocket Launch Scrubbed

CBS Sportsline is reporting that the Yankees have scratched Roger Clemens from tonight's start with the Devil Rays due to lingering hamstring problems. Kei Igawa, last seen in a flying monkey costume, will get the start. Make alternate plans ASAP.

You're Only as Strong as Your Weakest Link

Yankees fire strength and conditioning coach

It comes 3 hamstring injuries too late. The Yankees canned S&C coach Marty Miller today after prized prospect Phil Hughes joined fellow pitchers Chien-Ming Wang and Mike Mussina with hamstring injuries this season. Hideki Matsui also missed considerable time with a hamstring strain.

Miller changed up the Yankees preparation for the season. GM Brian Cashman wouldn't blame the conditioning program, but it was clear someone had to go. When King George gets upset, someone has to go. Hughes' injury was the final straw.

Would you trust your hammies to this guy?

Wang Out Until Late April

Carl Pavano, Kei Igawa, Darrell Rasner and/or Jeffrey Karstens can relax for a while. There's an extra opening on the Yankees opening day roster. Chien-Ming Wang felt something while running in the outfielder yesterday. The Yankees hoped it was a cramp like he had suffered earlier in camp, but it was no to be. Wang has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and will be placed on the DL until late April.

My take - this really sucks

Wang Way to Get Loose

First it was Andy Pettitte's back spasms, now we've got Chien-Ming Wang's hamstring to be worried about. The Wanger was doing his normal running when he felt a twinge in his hamstring. The Yankees are hoping it was just a cramp, but stay tuned.
