Arthur the Beagle Missing in NYC During Storm

Anyone who reads this blog knows I am a lover off all things Beagles, especially our Tinker and our recently passed Virginia. I can't imagine if either had ever gone missing.

That is what happened to the owner of Arthur the Beagle in downtown Manhattan yesterday (10/29). His new owner had him only a week when Arthur slipped his collar during Hurricane Sandy and ran off.

He has a microchip, which could be under the owner's name or the rescue, Badass Brooklyn Rescue in NY. If you see this dog or have him, please contact owner's friend Sophie Pauze  at 212-221-0127.

Thank you!

Now Pitching, Uno

Uno the Beagle became the first Beagle to win "Best in Show" at the Westminster Kennel Club annual soiree back in February. Yesterday, he may very well have become the first Beagle to throw out the first pitch at a Major League baseball game.

Crazy, you say? A dog throwing out the first pitch?. Uno indeed threw out the first pitch in Saturday's game between the Cincinnati Reds and Miwaukee Brewers.

He also played a playful game of "catch" with Brewers pitcher Jeff Suppan, and was interviewed after the game.
Reporter: “So Uno -- what do you think of Milwaukee?”

Uno: “Yeowp!”

Reporter: “How did you train for the first pitch?”

Uno goes after unattended fondue pot.

Reporter: "Is it true you have your own harness and seat when you travel Midwest Airlines?"

Uno goes after unattended nachos.

Reporter: “Will you give your new friend Jeff Suppan back the glove you stole from him in the dug-out?”

Uno: No.

Uno may now be the most popular "person" in Milwaukee since Hank Aaron.

Around the Horn - 8/7

Curt "Schitbag" Schilling made his first start for the Red Sox since June 18 last night and loss (Woo-hooooooo) to the LA Angels, 4-2. Schilling allowed 4 runs in 6 innings. The Red Sox also signed Bobby Kielty to a minor league contract in an effort to boost their bench.

The Cubs received a big blow to their playoff hopes when they found out Alfonso Soriano had a small tear in his right quad and could be out up to 6 weeks. It was originally thought to just be a strain with a 2-4 week timetable for his return.

The Rangers bullpen, already shortened with the trade of Eric Gagne, may be weaker for a lot longer. Akinori Otsuka, their outstanding setup man and occasional closer, has been out with a strained forearm. Now there's rumors he may be need Tommy John surgery. Either way he won't be back before Sept. 1.

And finally this, a dog (I'll have to teach my 2 beagles to do the same thing) that boos Barroid Bonds. CNN Video
